Applies to: https://starimport.com and https://www.starimport.com (including all pages and paths). Any subdomains we operate that link to this policy are also covered.

1) Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how Star Import Service, Inc. (“Star Import Service”, “we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you access or use our website, pages, and features (collectively, the “Site”). This policy applies only to information collected through the Site. It does not apply to third-party websites, tools, or services that may be linked from or embedded on the Site (such as Google Maps) and we are not responsible for third-party privacy practices. By using the Site, you acknowledge that your use is at your own risk and subject to this Privacy Policy, our Cookie Policy, our Terms of Service, and any other posted policies.

Related policies: Cookie Policy, Terms of Service, and Accessibility (ADA).

2) Information you provide

When you use forms or interactive features on the Site (for example contact forms, scheduling requests, or subscription forms), you may provide information such as:

See Terms of Service Section 4 for rules related to submissions, accuracy, and prohibited sensitive info.

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Message contents and attachments (if any)
  • Vehicle information (such as VIN) when applicable
  • Appointment-related details you submit (requested service, date/time, notes)

No sensitive information: Please do not submit sensitive personal information through Site forms (for example, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, payment card details, or medical information). If you choose to submit sensitive information, you do so at your own risk.

3) Information collected automatically

When you visit the Site, certain technical information may be processed automatically by your browser, our hosting/infrastructure, and our security tooling. This may include:

  • IP address and approximate location signals derived from IP address (city/region level, not precise GPS)
  • Device and browser information (for example, user-agent, operating system, language, and referring pages)
  • Basic request details (for example, pages requested, timestamps, and error events)

We use this information to operate the Site, maintain performance and availability, diagnose issues, and protect against spam, abuse, fraud, and malicious activity.

For cookie/local storage concepts, see the Cookie Policy. For anti-abuse and security controls, see Terms of Service Section 6.

4) Security and abuse-prevention logs

We use protections such as spam filtering, rate limiting, session-based form protection, and other controls to help prevent bots and abuse. As part of these protections, we may flag and block suspicious traffic and record limited security-related information.

Data stored for security: The only server-side data we intentionally retain long-term for these security purposes is a block list of IP addresses and a security event log (for example, “bannedIPs.json” and “bannedIP_events.log”). These records may include an IP address, timestamps, a reason for the security action, and may include approximate location metadata derived from third-party IP geolocation services. We use this information solely to protect the Site and our operations.

See Terms of Service Section 6 for acceptable use, abuse prevention, and blocking rules.

5) Cookies and local storage preferences

The Site may use cookies and similar technologies, and may store certain settings in your browser (for example, using local storage) to remember your cookie preferences. Some technologies may be necessary for basic site functionality and security, while others are optional and only enabled if you opt in. For full details, please see our Cookie Policy.

To manage preferences using the cookie banner, see Cookie Policy Section 3 (Cookie banner controls).

6) Analytics (only if you opt in)

If you enable Analytics in the cookie banner, the Site may load Google Analytics (GA4) to help us understand how visitors use the Site. GA4 may collect usage and engagement information such as pages viewed, clicks, scroll events, approximate location, and device/browser information. Analytics may use cookies or similar identifiers and may process technical data (including IP address) under Google’s policies. You can disable Analytics at any time using the cookie banner controls.

You can opt in/out using the cookie banner — see Cookie Policy Section 3 — and review related terms in Terms of Service Section 7.

7) External media (only if you opt in)

If you enable External Media in the cookie banner, the Site may load third-party embedded content (such as Google Maps). Once enabled, third-party services may receive technical information from your browser and may set cookies or collect data according to their own policies. We do not control how third parties collect or use information through their embedded services, and your use of those services is subject to their terms and privacy policies.

See Terms of Service Section 7 for embedded content terms. If you need help accessing embedded content, see Accessibility (ADA).

8) How we use information

We use information for the following purposes:

  • To respond to inquiries, messages, and scheduling requests
  • To communicate with you about your request (including confirmations, clarifications, and rescheduling)
  • To provide customer service and support
  • To operate, maintain, and improve the Site (including analytics, only if you opted in)
  • To protect the Site, prevent abuse, enforce policies, and maintain reliability and security
  • To comply with legal obligations and to protect our rights, property, and safety (and those of our visitors)

9) Sharing and disclosures

We do not sell personal information. We may share information in limited circumstances, such as:

  • Service providers: With vendors and providers that help us operate the Site (for example, hosting, infrastructure, email delivery, and security tooling), only as necessary for them to perform services on our behalf.
  • Optional features you enable: If you opt in to analytics or external media, information may be processed by those third parties (for example, Google) according to their own policies.
  • Legal and safety: If required by law, legal process, or governmental request, or when we believe disclosure is necessary to enforce our policies, protect rights and safety, investigate fraud/security issues, or respond to lawful requests.
  • Business changes: In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law and appropriate safeguards.

For third-party services and embedded content terms, see Terms of Service Section 7.

10) Data retention

We retain information only as long as reasonably necessary for operations, support, security, and legal compliance. For example:

  • Security-related records (such as IP block lists and security event logs) may be retained as needed to protect the Site and investigate abuse.
  • Messages and submissions may be retained as needed to respond to you, maintain business records, resolve disputes, and comply with legal requirements.
  • Routine infrastructure logs and backups may retain data for a limited period as part of normal system operations, after which they may be overwritten or deleted.

11) Your choices and rights

  • You can enable or disable optional cookies/features (Analytics and External Media) at any time using the cookie banner controls.
  • You can limit or block cookies through your browser settings, but some features may not function properly if essential cookies are blocked.
  • You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of information you submitted by contacting us. For security, we may need to verify your request.
  • If you believe you submitted information in error, contact us and we will make reasonable efforts to address your request consistent with legal and operational requirements.

For cookie preference controls, see Cookie Policy Section 3. If you need help using site features, see Accessibility (ADA).

12) Data security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access, misuse, loss, or alteration. However, no website or transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for using the Site in a safe manner, including using up-to-date browsers and devices.

See Terms of Service Section 11 (Disclaimers) and Section 12 (Limitation of Liability).

13) Children’s privacy

The Site is not intended for children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the Site, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to address it.

14) International visitors

The Site is intended for users in the United States. If you access the Site from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States where data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction. By using the Site, you consent to processing in the United States to the extent permitted by law.

For governing law and jurisdiction, see Terms of Service Section 15.

15) Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time by posting a revised version on this page and updating the “Last Updated” date. Changes take effect when posted. Your continued use of the Site after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy.

16) Contact

For privacy questions, requests, or concerns about information collected through this Site, please contact us:

6) Anti-Spam, Security, and Abuse Prevention

To protect the Site and our business from spam, fraud, abuse, and other security threats, we may use automated and manual measures. As part of those measures, the Site may:

  • Detect and block suspicious or abusive messages (including messages containing links or high-risk marketing/spam patterns).
  • Restrict access or features from certain IP addresses or network ranges.
  • Record limited security-related information in connection with abuse prevention.

We reserve the right to deny access, block requests, or refuse service to anyone for any lawful reason, including for suspected spam or abuse.
